The W.L. Whelchel Family Life Center seeks to provide services to the community by enriching the spiritual, educational, physical, emotional, and social needs of youth, elderly, and families of the local and surrounding communities.
The W.L. Whelchel Family Life Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the needs of its surrounding communities. With so many children growing up in poverty and in unsupervised areas, the W.L. Whelchel Family Life Center is determined to meet both needs and more. Our center seeks to provide Christian values, a safe environment with adequate Christian role-models, healthy nourishment to children and families, clothing needs via our clothing ministry, academic needs via future educational programs, and activities that promote health and wellness. We are a community-based organization who has committed its open doors to serve, encourage, and impact all who enter them. The ‘family’ aspect of the W.L. Whelchel Family Life Center is focused on giving kids, adults, the elderly, and families the opportunity to form close bonds and friendships with other members of the communities.
The W.L. Whelchel Family Life Center expects and anticipates growth as a variety of outreach programs and activities are being incorporated to serve the youngest to the oldest in every possible way. Through the help of dedicated and faithful volunteers, we are very soon looking to provide ESOL classes for our Hispanic parents, basic computer introduction classes, educational programs, health and wellness activities, a church basketball league that seeks to build strong Christian relationships amongst the varying congregations and pastors. The W. L. Whelchel Family Life Center also offers its facility to congregations in Lumpkin, White, Habersham and Hall counties.
The W. L. Whelchel Family Life Center seeks to take full advantage of every positive and friendly community forged relationship to assist us in our endeavor to serve the families in the community as we understand that it takes a village to raise a child.
We have already hosted our first Back to School Bash, and our facility hosts the Farms Bureau banquet yearly.
